Dr Paul Truscott retires from private practice

Thursday, 30 October 2008

After more than 2800 admissions, approximately 1600 surgical procedures and the delivery of some 2000 babies at Mater Private Hospital Redland (MPHR), Dr Paul Truscott put away his stethoscope to retire from private practice in 2008.

Dr Truscott began his association with MPHR as a Visiting Medical Officer in obstetrics and gynaecology when the hospital first opened its doors in September 2000.

He first attempted retirement in 2003, but this was short-lived—he returned to Mater in 2004 to once again take the reins of the hospital’s obstetrics and gynaecology service.

Mater Private Hospital Executive Director Don Murray said Dr Truscott’s professionalism and commitment to the service served as a lynchpin in establishing exceptional women’s health care at the Bayside hospital.

Paul Truscott was an integral part of Mater Private Hospital Redland, helping to grow and define the obstetrics and gynaecology service into what it is today.

He is well respected among staff and patients alike and will be sadly missed at Mater.
