Mater Children’s Private Hospital celebrates 10 years

Monday, 10 March 2008

Celebrating its 10th birthday in true style, the Mater Children’s Private Hospital (MCPH), which treats more than 3000 patients each year, hosted two gala events on Monday, 10 March 2008.

Set against the colourful backdrop of a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, the first order of the day was attended by past and present patients, staff and special guests whose smiling faces were testament to the milestone party atmosphere.

Executive Director of the Mater Mothers’ Hospitals, Mater Children’s Hospitals and Mater Adult Hospital, Dr Mark Waters thanked MCPH staff, patients and medical officers for their contribution and support.

The Mater Children’s Private Hospital has more than doubled in size over the past decade which can be attributed to the commitment of medical and support staff to excellence in health care, together with the community we serve.

A sincere thank you to everyone who has contributed to making the hospital the outstanding facility it is today.

To cap off the day’s proceedings, MCPH VMOs were thanked for their ongoing support over canapés and drinks at South Bank’s River Canteen overlooking the spectacular city skyline.

Australia’s first private acute paediatric hospital, the MCPH opened in 1998 and now provides 66 private inpatient beds, including a six-bed high observation area for acute care patients and 15 day surgery beds.
